The end of an era: Farewell Grace
28th August 2020
Grace Oakey, a 21 year old third year Rural Property Management Student, from Harper Adams University has been working for C&D Rural Ltd for a year now. Originally from Northumberland Grace ‘flew the nest’ three and half years ago to move down to Shropshire to undergo her studies. She is near the end of her 3rd year which presented the opportunity for all students to find their own placement and undergo 12-14 months of practical experience for a company in their chosen field of study. Grace said “I chose to do my placement with C&D Rural because they are a small office where I felt I would fit in and be given responsibilities, getting a hands on experience in and out the office. I have been involved with as much as possible and had a fantastic time learning, it has flown by! So much so C&D kindly offered me an extension on my placement period”
She further commented;
“I have found working here at C&D Rural has related to my course in many ways. I have seen theory put into practise and this has allowed me to have a more thorough understanding for Rural Property and Land Management. I have dealt with several properties from putting the property on the market to handing over the keys at the end, this is really satisfying. I have loved seeing a project through from start to finish, this included when I got involved in tenant amnesties.
Adam Roe, Property Manager commented,
“The purpose of this placement was to allow Grace to apply her knowledge that she has learnt in the classroom at Harper Adams University. I hope this was a great opportunity for Grace, and I am confident she will one day make a fantastic Chartered Surveyor”.
Grace aspires to graduate from Harper Adams with a Bsc Hons degree in Rural Property Management and go on to do her assessment of professional competence to then hopefully become a fully qualified Chartered Surveyor and MRICS.
Keep up the good work Grace!
